IB Diploma Programme
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a modern international curriculum designed for pupils aged 16 to 19 in the last two years of their high school education, developed by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO).
The International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) is an international educational organization founded in 1968 in Switzerland by a group of talented, forward-thinking teachers at the International School of Geneva.
For over 40 years now IBO is an acknowledged leader in international education. Its schools continuously increase their number and currently about 3,865 schools in 148 countries worldwide provide the programmes of the organization. Meridian 22 High School became a member of this global family in 2009 and is one of the five schools in Bulgaria that offer the Diploma Programme.
IB Mission Statement
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The Diploma Programme is preparing students for success in higher education and life in global society.
The IB Diploma Programme is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students, aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond. It has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students. The programme, has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities.
The two-year course gives an intensive pre-university preparation. The methods and the programmes are developed by international experts basing the compromise between the characteristics of some educational systems and the general educational approaches of others without copying either of them. Thus, the Diploma Programme can be integrated in different national systems. The main purposes of IB are to provide students with a balanced education and to facilitate geographic and cultural mobility.
All classes are taught in English except mother Language A and foreign language(s). Students can study and take examinations in English, French or Spanish. At Meridian 22, the language of instruction is English.
